Former EMI Music Canada President Deane Cameron Dies at 65

The Grapes Of Wrath are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Capital/EMI president, Deane Cameron. We first met Deane in 1986, when he had come to Vancouver to check out another band and during a break between sets, wandered down the street to the little club we were playing at. Deane immediately understood what we were trying to do as a band, and once we were signed to the label he allowed us the artistic freedom we needed to develop our music and then championed the results to the rest of the EMI family worldwide, resulting in international releases and numerous US and European tours. As anyone who knew him will attest, Deane truly believed in the power of music and its ability to transform lives, and he cared about the people who were making the music as well. Thanks for everything, Deane.
